NEXT
10.30.07 (8:37 am)   [edit]

I saw the DVD of the movie 'NEXT starring Nicolas Cage. It is about a man who can see the future, but only two minutes ahead. This is an interesting thought, but why a two minute limit?

The idea is that there are too many branches after two minutes because all the probabilities blur together. Stiil, it would be a useful tool to have and it does show the experience of seeing future events before they happen and altering the time stream based on that information.

Future of Robots
10.14.07 (7:39 pm)   [edit]

Carlosx went to 2152 and worked as a future robot repairman. In that distant age word "robot" was considered offensive. The prefered term was "artificial person". In other words the bots were a bit on the sensitive side. In that far futurity owning a robot or AP was not a status symbol. You were seen as a loser.

Also, the customers were lonely old men, and the robots pretty young blondes. There were no roBOYs.  These automatons were dirt cheap, about as expensive as a motor scooter and twice as fun. Cost was a gold ouncer coin.
