According to Steven Gibbs he got a letter in the mail from his future self explaining how to build a time machine. The future Steven Gibbs claimed that aliens had given him information about how to build a time machine. The Letter contained information about where to obtain the parts, what parts to use, and how to put it together including diagrams.

In 1981 Steven Gibbs built the sonic resonator using common radio shack parts. He began to test the unit and replaced the radio shack 10K resistor with a 15K resistor. He said that the original radio shack 10K resistor caused sparks. Another improvement was using 21 gauge magnet wire instead of radio shack speaker wire. Steven Gibbs says that using 21 gauge magnet wire gives him a clear signal. He replace the radio shack green capacitor with a 1K blue capacitor.

In 1985 Steven Gibbs invented the Hyper Dimensional Resonator or HDR based on the earlier sonic resonator. He now began to sell HDR units. Now over twenty years later, Steven Gibbs says he has sold over 700 Hyper Dimensional Resonators. The process is labor intensive and now that he’s not getting help from anybody he says he is only able to build seven units a month.
